| Resumo: | Este texto é o resultado de uma investigação acerca do problema da liberdade a partir da manipulação do gosto musical, com base nas reflexões de Theodor W. Adorno sobre a música popular. Uma vez que Adorno identifica uma manipulação do gosto musical por parte da indústria cultural, reconhece-se uma liquidação do indivíduo, pois este é subsumido no todo. A partir dessa tese de Adorno, coloca-se o seguinte problema: a liquidação do indivíduo como consequência da manipulação do seu gosto pode ser interpretada como uma fratura de sua liberdade? O texto é norteado pela hipótese de que a liquidação do indivíduo como consequência da manipulação do seu gosto musical representa uma fratura de sua autonomia e, consequentemente, uma fratura de sua liberdade. O fenômeno da liquidação do indivíduo, como constatado por Adorno, portanto, joga luz para o problema da liquidação da liberdade. Para desenvolver essa hipótese, o texto é dividido em três capítulos. O primeiro capítulo reconstrói as principais ideias de Adorno acerca do caráter fetichista na música e a regressão da audição do ouvinte moderno. Fundamentado nesses problemas, o segundo capítulo apresenta o modo como o caráter fetichista na música e a regressão da audição propicia uma manipulação do gosto musical por parte da cultura de massa, construindo, em seguida, a hipótese de que, uma vez que o fetichismo e a regressão contribuem para a construção do gosto musical, a liberdade do indivíduo é fraturada, pois o próprio indivíduo é liquidado. Frente a todos esses problemas, o terceiro capítulo explora a possibilidade de emancipação pela música, e mostra que, ao mesmo tempo em que a música reflete a barbárie da civilização no século XX, também apresenta subterfúgios que destacam seu aspecto emancipatório. |

| Abstract: | This text is the result of an investigation about the problem of freedom, stemming from the manipulation of musical taste, based on the reflections of Theodor W. Adorno about popular music. Since Adorno identifies that the culture industry manipulates musical taste, such identification leads to the recognition of an liquidation of the individual, as one is subsumed within the whole. From that Adorno's thesis stems the following problem: Can the liquidation of the individual as a result of the manipulation of his taste be interpreted as a fracture of his freedom? The text is guided by the hypothesis that the liquidation of the individual as a result of the manipulation of his musical taste is a fracture of his autonomy and, consequently, a fracture of his freedom. Hence, the individual liquidation phenomenon, as evidenced by Adorno, aims attention to the problem of the liquidation of freedom. To develop such hypothesis, the text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter reconstructs Adorno's main ideas on the fetish character in music and the regression of listening of the modern listener. Based on those problems, the second chapter presents how the fetich character in music and the regression of listening provides a manipulation of the musical taste by the mass culture; thus building the hypothesis that, once the fetishism and the regression contribute to the construction of musical taste, the freedom of the individual is fractured as the individual himself is finished. Faced with all these problems, the third chapter explores the possibility of emancipation through music, and shows that, while the music reflects the barbarism of civilization in the twentieth century, it also has quirks that highlight its emancipatory aspect. |
